Scrying Crystal on the Day of the Moon

On this Day of the Moon, Monday, February 19, 2018, I felt a strong internal and intuitive pull to order a new scrying crystal. I woke up with the thought in mind and no matter what else I thought of, my thoughts returned to the crystal.

Tonight, in the Hour of the Moon on the Day of the Moon, I researched various models extensively and finally made my purchase in the Hour of Saturn, which seemed appropriate to the Saturnian aspect of focusing or constraining that is essential to the operation of skrying in evocation.

My intention is to use this 80 mm crystal in evocation, both Solomonic and Enochian as part of my Adept-level work. I intend to scry all of the Enochian aethyrs and do systematic angelic conjurations both from the Watchtowers and in working with different Solomonic grimoires.

Dear אדוני, please guide this crystal safely home to me in the mail, through the precarious passages of its postal journey!

10  So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O LORDGod of Israel our father, forever and ever.
11 “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
12 “Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.
“Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.”
~ 1 Chronicles 29:11

3-Rune Reading

GoldenDawnlogoDate: 12/02/2018
Sun Phase: Set
Moon Phase: Waning Crescent, 10% Full
Planetary Day: Day of the Moon
Planetary Hours: Hour of Saturn
Time: 21:00 to
Activity: 3-Rune Reading

Tonight, I cast a three Rune reading, my first reading with the new Runeset, which I have been carrying on my person since creating them.

The question I asked was “What do I need to know that would help move me forward right now?”

The result:

1. Rune far left: Norn Urd; the past- past actions & situations that relate to the question you asked:

ingwaz.pngInguz / Ingwaz – (NG: Ing, the earth god.) Seed potential, male fertility, gestation, internal growth. Common virtues, common sense, simple strengths, family love, caring, human warmth, the home. Rest stage, a time of relief, of no anxiety. A time when all loose strings are tied and you are free to move in a new direction. Listen to yourself.

2. Rune middle: Norn Skuld; the present- what is influencing you right now.

wunjo.gifWunjo (W or V: Joy.) Joy, comfort, pleasure. Fellowship, harmony, prosperity. Ecstasy, glory, spiritual reward, but also the possibility of going “over the top,” being impractically enthusiastic. If restrained, the meaning is general success and recognition of worth.

3. Rune far right: Norn Verdandi; the future – what will likely happen to answer your question

Wyrd/Odin’s Rune – Many traditionalists prefer not to use this Rune. I use it because it captures some profound meanings: Destiny. The Unknown. The fertility of Emptiness. Infinite Possibilities. “Wyrd, the Blank Rune,” as Dr. Nikki explains, ” is a message to look to the inner self. The blankness of this rune is actually a invitation to go deep within. For, the forces that are moving unseen in the background are forces you have put into effect. The forces represent the culmination of your life’s actions to that very moment. One of Wyrd’s messages is that the emptiness that is the blank slate at the beginning of our lives is filled by our own actions. These actions accumulate over time creating an energy flow that is carried with us as we move on our life’s path. It is on the small decisions we make moment by moment that we create our future. Wyrd is reminding you that life is a clean slate, ready to write your future on.

Odin was the Norse God of Gods. Odin taught the oghram. Odin hung from the tree of knowledge and obtained the runes of knowledge. Odin in his capriciousness and changeability challenges you to reach the untold heights his rune represents. If you ignore the call to move forward into the blankness with hope and faith in your heart, you ignore the call to personal greatness. Not the greatness of fame and fortune (although it could be, but normally not so), but the greatness of one who knows themselves. The greatness of the dignity and grace that comes with self-wisdom are available, you just need reach for them.”

This reading is a very positive one. With Inguz in the past actions Norn Urd position, I am being reminded of what brought me to where I now am. I was driven by masculine vitality, which led me to plant many seeds of personal development and work cultivating the people around me and being of service. As a result of that, I have reached a place of moving from the immature adolescent I once was to a more mature man; the seed of Inguz has grown to maturity in me, although I must be humble and recognize I still have much to learn. Inguz challenges me to stay the course I am on, while challenging myself to make the changes I need to make to grow. This I have done and continue to do, and as a result, I have found myself in a more fulfilling place than ever before. My magical path is in order, my friendship and relationships are in order, my family life is in order, and I am walking a meaningful educational and professional path as a social worker, doing meaningful work of service.

As a result, I have been increasingly feel grateful, joyful, and content with my life just as it is. It is, thus, very appropriate that Wunjo, the Rune of Joy, appears in the Norn Skuld present position. This Rune is telling me that my present is a state of joy, comfort, pleasure. I feel greater fellowship with my colleagues and friends than ever before, which manifests as making new friends and building rapport with the people around me, as I did today. This alignment of my spiritual life with my professional and educational life in a spirit of integrity and harmonized ideals is manifesting as spiritual rewards and a deep serenity and contentment. At the same time, Wunjo reminds me not to be cautious not to become complacent or to lose sight of the work that needs to be done out of a feeling of contentment. This is appropriate as there is an assignment I should attend to that I have been feeling so content that I have not putting it off. Wunjo gently urges me to attend to this obligation and Inguz invites me to take action and plant the seeds of change in this direction to stay my course and fulfill the work I have before me to do. This seems wise and appropriate advice.

What will be the result if I continue on this way? The Odin or Wyrd Rune appears in the Norn Verdandi future position. The Odin Rune tells me that although the future is unknown and I have my own destiny ahead of me, the future is still rich with possibilities and emptiness from which to manifest the fabric of my life and actions. Odin invites me to tune in deeply, to go deeply within, and harmonize myself with the forces I have been setting in motion over the course of my life to bring me to the present steps I now walk on my path. The Wyrd Rune invites me to march forward into the unknown with faith, hope, and courage, to trust the Way before me. That, I intend to do, moment by moment, and one step at a time.

Update: The morning after drawing this Ingwaz Rune, in a fun synchronicity, I saw this in a bus booth:20180213_073225.jpg

The light grey forms Ingwaz and the dark grey forms Gebo.

Together, they form a bindrune that makes a very appropriate logo for a sports competition, as was the case here!

Creating A New Runeset

Date: 22/07/2018
Moon Phase: Waxing Gibbous, 80% Full
Planetary Day: Day of Venus
Planetary Hours: Hour of Jupiter and finishing just in the beginning of the Hour of Mars
Time: 4:35-5:25
Activity: Creating three sets of Runes for O.’.A.’.L.’.  Members

Today, I was in a store and saw some beautiful white stones. It occurred to me that these would be perfect for a set of Runes. The last Runes I made, some 12 or more years ago, were made out of tree bark that I cut and carved myself and stained with juice from the poisoned berries of the same tree:

Unfortunately, all these years later, that bark has grown quite sharp and is prone to giving splinters during use. Those old runes are also unequal lengths and rather bulky and unwieldy. Thus, I felt that the time was right to craft a new set, particularly since our Order is planning to integrate the Runic divination system into our curriculum.

At the store, it occurred to me that Frater F.S.S.F. and Soror P.F. might also wish to have a set. I wondered if I should buy three of the large bags of smooth, round stones in order to be able to make them each a set as well, while crafting a set for myself. However, as I had never used these materials before, I thought it best to just buy a single bag worth, try to craft them, and buy more to make some for my Frater and Sorror afterwards if the experiment was successful.

Thus, I went home, and opened the bag of stones. What I discovered blew me away. In this single bag, there were exactly 75 stones, that is, exactly enough for three full sets of Elder Futhark Runes with blank Wyrd Runes! I took this as a sign from that I was to make the three sets after all, and so I did so, creating them all in the hour of Jupiter and slightly into the Hour of Mars on the Day of Venus, since they were gifts and labours of love (Venus) aimed at success, a new beginning, and initiation (Jupiter).

As it turns out, the Moon of divination and astral work was in my Sun Sign, Aries, and also very appropriately for crafting a divination tool, in the 12th House, which rules the subconscious, divination, spirituality, and intuition. With the Moon also Trine with Pluto, the latter planet’s connections with the unconscious, transformation, initiation, and regeneration balanced with the Lunary dimensions are also appropriate for these Runes.

The finished Runes:

For my future reference in case I later find it relevant to interpreting the efficacy of these Runes, I cast a horoscope for their creation, with these results:

Planets, Positions, Ascendant, and Houses

Asteroids and Chiron:
